Description

Handmade in Dublin | Rooted in Irish Craft and Tradition

Inspiration:
The Man of Aran Brown Herringbone Waistcoat is a tribute to the strength and resilience of Ireland’s west coast fishermen. Inspired by the clothing worn on the Aran Islands, this piece reimagines the waistcoat once layered over thick jumpers and worn in wooden Curraghs braving the Atlantic winds. Its traditional fold-back collar and multi-button closure are more than design—they’re a heritage of protection and movement, allowing fishermen to shield their chests from sea spray while keeping their arms free to row.

Woven in a rich, earthy brown herringbone, the cloth echoes the peat, stone, and sun-warmed bracken of the Irish landscape. Flecks of heather, rust, and moss dance across the surface like light over the Burren’s stone. Each thread carries a sense of place, of a quiet, enduring strength passed down through generations.

Why Making in Ireland Is So Important to Us
Our Balbriggan workroom hums with quiet purpose. Here, a small team marks, cuts, and sews each brown herringbone waistcoat by hand, choosing short-run tweeds that echo peat banks and oak-smoked turf. Limited batches mean every horn button is set with care and every lining pressed smooth. Local making keeps living skills alive, lightens our footprint, and lets the pride of Dublin craftsmanship rest on your shoulders.

Brown Herringbone Tweed
Our brown herringbone recalls peat fires and stone cottages at dusk. The classic chevron structure reinforces the cloth, giving it resilient body and graceful movement. Chestnut, ember, and heather fibres are blended in the spinning, creating a tapestry of tone that feels earthy and luxurious. Resilient, breathable, and water-shedding, it is built for decades of refined wear.

Caring For Your Man Of Aran Tweed Waistcoat
This waistcoat carries the legacy of Irish craftsmanship—preserve its strength and shape with gentle care. After wear, hang it on a wooden hanger to keep the shoulders crisp. Allow it to air in a cool, dry space to ease out creases and absorb freshness from the day. Use a damp cloth to lift minor blemishes. When the time comes for deeper care, always opt for dry cleaning. Patience and respect will ensure this heirloom lasts a lifetime.
